The younger buck was so terrified he wouldn't let go.
I think its the time when Lupe stopped seeing the others as juvenile rabble he had to 'deal with' and started viewing him as brothers he felt bound to protect.
Eddie and Lupe became a lot closer as brothers after the events in Red Cords splitting the older and younger gang siblings to him and Eddie and Kit with Dan. Despite all four of them remaining close the rest of their lives, they generally tend to fall into those pairs at events whenever they meet up.
