This one was a very frustrating piece for me. I got the idea for it around two years ago, while watching "Kemono no Souja Erin", but I didn't have the courage or technique to attempt it then. Apparently I do now, though.
I tried to include a nice variety of creatures to make it more interesting, too. I used a few brushes from my brush pack when adding texture on this one. http://fav.me/d39exlp
The main reason why this one was frustrating was because I accidentally deleted it halfway through, along with all my other Photoshop WIPs when I got overzealous cleaning up the files on my desktop. That wasn't much fun.
So, I started over on it, using a saved WIP like my new sketch and I'm glad I did.
It was a difficult piece, probably the most difficult that I've done, but it was very satisfying to complete it.

Thank you.
You can download a larger version here: http://chromamancer.deviantart.com/.....arch-201045286
It's 2400 x 1350. It's much larger than this version, so it'll probably make a better wallpaper.
Right now, I might sell a few prints through DA, but I would love to sell some myself, or at conventions.

I hadn't actually thought things out that far... I might have to draw an opposing force eventually.
It must be something rather decent, though. Otherwise they wouldn't go through the trouble of assembling a force like that.
Undead perhaps? A bit of overkill never hurts when they're around.

That was one of the reasons why this one was frustrating for a while. I was able to make progress when I started to sketch with shapes instead of lines.
Silhouettes were much easier to manage, and adding detail later was easier than trying to sketch detail in there initially.
Sketching with shapes is something that I've started trying after seeing Jamajurabaev's process over on DA. http://jamajurabaev.deviantart.com/.....llery/23686014
I'm not as sophisticated with it yet, but I have noticed that there is more than one way to make a sketch, and different methods tend to have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Did you find the larger version?

If you have a large monitor, there is a higher resolution version over on DA.

holy fucking shit
i mean i cant even
your concepts are always absolutely amazing, and youve got the skill to execute them in a way that makes them even more fantastic
for example, in my opinion this picture would not be nearly as cool if it had a regular-ish color scheme, the monotone palette really pushes this beyond the above average, you know?
i mean, jesus, i could go on talking about this all day, i think ill just fave it so i can stare at it whenever i want

Thank you very much.
I always try a few different color schemes, because they really can make a huge difference in the tone of a picture. Sometimes more contrast is nice, but sometimes restricting the color palette tends to give a setting more impact.
I'm glad you enjoy this one.

Hey... I've seen this before somewhere. Someone was using it as a background image for a video on youtube, playing a song called 'United we Stand'. Suitable but, did they take that without permission?
Still an amazing picture; always loved hearing the song while looking at it.

This was made 10 years ago. I loved it back then...And I am reminded of it every time I listen to this music. Hope you are doing well, and here's one more comment for another 10 (or 100) years ahead!
