How is it that you’re able to make a greeting card better than the ones made by “professionals”?

Maybe not better, but the "old fashioned look" makes them standing out in contrast to all those colourful computer made and laser printed cards.

It honors me, that you started to learn german "unintentionally" with my stories.
The reason why I write the dialogues in German is, because it would look weird, if my English suddenly would sport grammar errors and stuff^^;

I myself trained my english skills with the video game Breath of Fire IV where all the dialogues were in english and the combination of action on screen and the english words helped me to connect them somehow in my brain^^;

It was Breath of Fire 4 for PS 1. I didn´t know that there had been SNES games too, I found out about them, when they were rebooted for GB advance.

Yeeeaaah! They started on Super Nintendo I believe. Then yeah, it moved to Playstation afterwards.

Breath of Fire 1 & 2 are on Super Nintendo, I think 3 is on Sega Genesis(?), and then it went to Playstation.

Mildly related: Did you know that the Playstation was an idea in collaboration between Nintendo and Sony? It had a relatively Super Nintendo-like color scheme for the buttons! The console was going to be able to play stuff off of a CD! Though that unfortunately wouldn't be a thing until Gamecube for Nintendo.

Nintendo pulled out for I believe very stuck-up reasons and then oopsie, Sony is a rival now.

I remember that BoF 1 for SNES received another title over here in Europe and a totally different cover image, more Conan the Barbarian style

BoF 3 was made for Play Station as far as I know, maybe there was a version for Genesis. I don´t know.

That aside, I have been learning a bit of German as well from your stuff. Noticing how the tone of the word being pronounced in my head denoting something that may come with heavy themes or lighter themes or maybe the structure of said German word has similarities to English like "Licht" being "Light" in English. Same with "Luz" in Spanish being "Light" in English. That's speaking from the beginning letter being similar, and sometimes the letters after that, being similar in shape to where I can actually visualize their english translation better.

Languages are an interesting topic.

Luz, light and Licht, all three originate from the Roman lux, that just means the same as light.
Some words in english and german are awfully close:

Garden - Garten
way - Weg
street - Straße
sword - Schwert
shield - Schild

Too many to mention them all here.

Yup! So many similarities in certain words where I can maybe put together that something is being said, mentioned, compared, or being used as a metaphor. Though of course not a whole lot either. So I am learning but learning slowly as everyone else here!

Just the same with me with japanese or french.
Step by step, I learned to understand certain words and now I can make them out, when something is said or sung.
First steps, but when a system can be established, things become easier, I think.

What was it like drawing on cardboard or cardboard-like material for the first time? .v.

It was the first time with pigment liner on this surface. The ink of said liners dried very slow, so I could not erase the pencil sketch lines, for it would have smeared across the ink.

Sounds bad or just annoying at the very least. But it does sound like a new genuine experience!

I imagine it was a rather different texture of material to be working on than you normally would and needing quite a bit of care with the shading. The result is rather lovely, a much better quality than a commercially designed card and I expect very appealing for the recipient.
