Skögul's Temples of Toes - YCH
I present to you the first official picture of the “Towering Toes YCH”! Yes, I’ve done this pose many times before but now it is an option for commissioners to ask for!
This picture features Skögul the Mightyena,
b424’s sona’s main lover in his own world. She’s gotten quite big and certainly has impressive paws to be loomed over. >3>
I really love the airplane detail…
Done with mechanical pencil on white card stock paper.

Wow! I like all the details. The buildings look a bit simplistic, but they do their job and I think that looks good. I like how it pans back to mountains as you go further back in the image in a way that emphasizes her size as well.
This is aided by the subtle details like the clouds and the displaced dirt being at the front of the image, not to mention the deep furrows her paws are clearly digging with their weight alone.
As for Skögul herself, I like how soft her paws look and how fit she actually is. Her clothing looks like it has a shine to it even when blurred by the sheer distance and her body type looks great!
You always manage to put nice spins on the plane cliche as well like here how it's flying through her toes.

Yah, I need to come up with a better way to do buildings that are quick and easy. Might be something to explore soon now that I have the on screen graphics tablet. >.>'
Aww, thanks so much for all the thoughtful thoughts you have here! ^.^ I really appreciate how carefully you look these over with so many points you make.
This picture almost didn't get atmospheric depth to it. It was a very last minute thing I remembered to add in a few minutes as I was about to deliver the commission. Something I always admired about digital artists compared to my old days as a traditional. The ability to add depth on the fly. Where as traditionally in colored pencil, you had to plan it from the very beginning.

In that case, why not make a few test pieces? It wouldn't matter if you publicly posted them or not so long as you use them to teach yourself an experiment.
There's a lot of details in the art so there's a lot of things I can come up with to look over. You're welcome.
Digital and traditional sketches clearly have their own benefits. They're just different forms of media and one isn't necessarily better or worse than the other. I'm sure there are advantages to old traditional sketching that you wouldn't find in digital, for example.

I could see about doing that, yes! I think I have some rough ideas to try.
Mentally, traditional art is still my comfort tool when I want to fully relax. I am experimenting with digital inking these days, but pencil work will remain something I can do, go into a mental zen, and relax.

Why not write your ideas down? Although I wouldn't be surprised if you already do so. That would help you remember them.
Using art as a calming method helps keep you motivated. I do like how you're experimenting with different forms of media because that makes your skill set more versatile.

Sometimes not everything works out, but sometimes one discovers they're good at something or they like something that they never thought they would. I'm sure you've had the same experiences.
And while I don't draw, I have had experiences where I turn out liking certain characters from vanilla media in macro/ micro fan art that I didn't think I otherwise would . so I get the vibe of how that would feel.

Oh I can totally associate with liking something more when you draw them yourself. Zoroark is a good example of finding a way to like the species more by fanart. The official renditions can be quite off putting or underwhelming, but fanart makes them look amazing!
