Starting an electric guitar for a customer. Also anouncement
I will be moving all my luthier work to a new FA account that I have yet to set up because I am a lazy ass. Keep an eye on my journals if you are interested in such things.
I started buying wood for a new electric guitar project. The buyer is paying me $1600 for a neck-through body design dinky style guitar with a multi-ply maple neck with walnut strips, flamed maple top, alder body. This piece here is the body wood.
I will hopefully have this done in 3 months presuming no weirdness is encountered. I will have 50 hour work weeks here pretty soon:s so I will have to work on this on weekends.
I am open for other work right now. I am charging $1000 labor plus the cost of parts which is usually between $500-$700 for a solid body electric. For other examples of my work see here:

Well I usually tend to buy something all up front like my last guitar which was about 600 bucks. So I don't have to worry about being in debt to someone and forgetting when payments are. I'm a loser like that. Once I'm working again somewhere and get some money saved up your the first I'm going to turn to when I want my next guitar.
As stated by someone else above, someday I would love to get something made by you... a nice little custom something, when I have the money to spare. Though knowing my luck, you'll decide to stop doing this by the time I've saved up enough. >_< Regardless, keep up the lovely work, as always!
Are you kidding? I spent $16,000 on my education to build these things:P If anything I will set my self up to go into carbon fiber production. I already have plans to make some five sting polymer mandolins and those are likely to be a bit cheaper :) I would love to build a guitar for someone like you that would use it for making some great music.
I've always wanted to learn to do that kind of stuff, m'self, but it's another one of those things I'll likely never get to do. But that list is long, so I'm used to it. *Flicks an ear* Regardless, ideally someday I'd likely get 2 things from you- one acoustic and one electric. I would be quite flattered to have something made just for me... and cost won't matter at that point, since if I want it, I'll make sure I can afford it. ^^ You do fantastic work, from the looks of things... so the hardest part would be deciding exactly what it was I wanted your talents to produce.
Those are a bit easier to price because your normally just paying for wood. The only expensive options are tuners and under-saddle pickups. I would have to talk to either about what specific woods you wanted or the tone you were going for in order to come up with a viable number.
