To start off, Larang is taken from the Espiranto word alaranĝi, which means "to adapt".

The concept behind the character, is that instead of having personalized Rider Gear, he would instead use the DecaDriver, Double Driver, and OOO Driver to switch between and be able to adapt to any situation presented to him.

To those unfamiliar, the DecaDriver was the transformation belt worn by Kamen Rider Decade and used an assortment of cards in order to take on the form and use the powers of the nine prior Kamen Rider (as well as having a couple cards for his own unique attacks as well as final form).

The Double Driver was the belt worn by Kamen Rider W (pronounced "double"); devices called Gaia Memory are inserted into the driver, and the power of the memory determined the form's elemental attribute (wind, fire, or illusions) and fighting style (hand-to-hand, staff, or gun). The Double Driver also has several special Gaia Memory to unlock other forms, and one to access it's final form.

The OOO Driver is the belt currently being used by Kamen Rider OOO (since the series is currently in progress). Similar to the Double Driver, special coins called Core Medals are inserted into the OOO Driver to determine what form is taken. One coin determines the head piece, one coin determines the torso and what weapons are used, and a third coin determined the leg armor, which can augment mobility. There are currently 15 different medals, three of a color (head, torso, legs) and five different colors (red, blue, yellow, green, and gray), and using three medals of one color grants a set bonus.
