With this picture, we've encountered something of a distortion in the space-time continuum - for you, it's only been a week since the last piece, but for me, it's been closer to three months. Let me explain: Poolside Pirates was drawn back in May, just as I was finishing up production on SPCM #4. There then followed a few months in which I took a break, worked on other things, and worked out what I wanted to do for SPCM #5. I then spent all of August bashing out a script, and all of September doing the roughs. The latter tends not to take too long, so I often found myself with plenty of spare time - during which I started doing more random pieces of artwork. Considering I tend to draw loads of artwork and then dripfeed it out, you might not have realized there was a gap if I hadn't mentioned it just now.
As for the picture itself, I think it speaks for itself, really. It's just another bash at the idea of Vikki Scase being really into stage magic, and roping someone in as her assistant. In this case, the unlucky bugger in question is Jocelyn Trueman (he insists the name is unisex), a general maintenance worker onboard the Stellar Typhoon. He's basically one of the guys who handles all the smaller repair jobs - changing lightbulbs, laying carpets, mending broken plumbing, and even the odd spot of carpentry. I chose him partly because he seemed the most likely to own a saw, but mainly because I reckoned he'd be the most upset about it getting damaged.
