In my headcanon, lions have a lot of vanity and machismo bound up in their manes, in having all that masculine energy out there on display.
That weight doesn't sit right on everyone's shoulders, though, and sometimes people have to decide whether they're ready to shed it.
I commissioned this as a gift for a friend, a small affirmation since one of their characters has been mulling this theme for a while.
They're remaining nameless for now, for obvious reasons.
