This would be a really cool book style. Colored would be better for a children's book [but as this is a style study, you might have intended it to be colored later on anyway!] I love the simple lines and expressions.

Well, I thought about coloring it, because it would be better for a children's book, like you said ... In the end, it will stay like this because colors would only distract from the line art itself. :)
I'd color it if I was commissioned for it, but I think the reference itself might just stay the way it is.
