From what I understood, it was planted in the 1920s by the government. I will have to do research on why it is there.

it's to hide the secret military base underground where the have stored alien technologies and stuff that will like destroy the rainforest or maybe the galaxy

Oddly enough, there are 'off limits' places in the area, even rumors of a lake bed that drains at night (hehehe), but I doubt this place houses anything military, especially since the caves nearby go under it.
