About fifty years ago, a man in search of knowledge came to me. Unlike some of the visitors I welcome to these places, he had heard of me and my working methods, but above all of what I had accumulated over the centuries.
This explorer of knowledge had therefore voluntarily come to exchange while knowing full well what frequently happens in these places. Unlike Nāga, he hadn't done it behind my back, however.
“Life has given me a lot, Lord. But it has also taken away a lot.” he told me without opening up any further. Still human concepts to think that chain reactions can have a will of their own when only entropy reigns in the universes... But let's move on.
I therefore invited him to consult my works on the condition that he offered me something in return.
He told me about two powerful ogres. So powerful, it was said, that they were taken for the avatars of Life and Death personified : the Cursed Twins. In everything I experienced, before and after becoming the Owlverlord, I had never heard of them. I have heard thousands of urban legends like this. Nevertheless, he took the time to explain all the elements he had been able to gather about them.
Ogres cannot have more than one child per litter. From then on, these twins were as much an aberration as a gift from heaven. Appearing shortly after the Corruption of the Guardians, they have traveled from world to world, untouched by the Evil that is gnawing at their otherkins. One could use light, life and creation, the other shadow, death and destruction. Some even said they had seen them use Void magic.
After his explanations, I let him wander around my library. He came back later with another exchange. Hageshiiomo's orbs against a painting of the Cursed Twins.
This is the legacy I keep from the collector Henri Goldenberg.

well the main thing that i take away from this one is that this kind of duality is a reflection of many things like life and death, light and dark, good and evil and these concepts are often two sides of the same coin in that one can not exist without the other.
also that these concepts are often either cyclical like living things succumbing to death, which begets new life, or are closely related as these twins are. cant have light without darkness. and the concept of good is meaningless without evil things to contrast it to.
