Reference for my new PF2 character, Textoris Melodia Funeris, or Tex for short. (Yes he is a reference to Hatoful Boyfriend and no I'm not sorry)

I am definitely very biased so take this with a huge grain of salt. It's much harder to learn than 5e, and it's very... player antagonistic. I could really rant about how much I hate PF2 but it's really just not a great system for me and my playstyle in general. That aside it does have a lot of problems with it's tone and how it presents information for players.
5e really likes to give you abilities that do stuff. And this can be real problematic in some ways, because you end up with things like Wall of Force which just fully shuts down martial characters with no save or way to resist or escape, you just are done. And that side of 5e is very frustrating. On the other hand, it lets you actually do stuff like make an attack without punishing you. It's information isn't bogged down by really dry technical writing. You just apply basic logic. If a spell says it does a thing, that's what it does.
PF2 meanwhile, does the opposite where they have spells like Breadcrumbs, which is a 1st level spell, that lasts 1 hour and accomplishes... nothing... that literally a bag of breadcrumbs wouldn't accomplish without a time limit. Or frequently will have abilities that seem to do one thing, but then they have 4 paragraphs describing why the spell can't be used for the obvious purpose. Or worse, will bury the caveats in a tag that you then have to look up. PF2 also just LOVES to slap penalties on everything. If you try to do something, you take a penalty, which is just really negative and frustrating, and feels bad frankly. It's largely a tone thing, but PF2 really goes out of it's way to make you not want to try and do things.
I could really deep dive and rant about it, but if you have the chance to play it, it's worth at least trying. It might be your thing. Everyone has a different playstyle and if you prefer technical writing and numerical balance PF2 might be your thing.

Oh, I'll see if I can look up the PHB and give it a read. I do like technical stuff, but it does sound like it's more structured that the usual Murder Hobo'ing of DnD XD I could also drop in on one of the games too. Both valid ideas honest. I just love table top RPGs and never have the time to play them.
