After putting an old man in the ground and saying his goodbyes, Raven felt next to no emotion, the passing of his grandfather was almost uneventful towards the end. But inside the smallest fire kept crackling the coals, the embers looking for a host in their little dance. That evening Raven was escorted to a small garden just outside of a cafe', the atmosphere found a simple longing long buried far deeper than the ashes of a past he wished to forget.
Beatrice had not taken him there to forget, but to remember... Remember the boy who found some joy in mundane and uninteresting things, the boy who drew rather crude images in excess looking to enjoy the barrage of pretty colours, the boy who laughed at the premise that he would ever like someone, y'know like, like like. The young man who looked for something to em passion himself, the young man who came to love a woman who always tried to push everyone away, A young man who didn't want her to see the depths of his pain on display.
The two sat for a couple of hours and talked, Raven's shell breaking open before tears, not of sorrow or regret, but of joy began to form, for it took this beautiful crocodile the length of weeks and a night of nostalgia to remind him how ever so loved he is. The two would dance, as they had some years before in the garden to a song only they could hear, and would do so for some minutes before a short trip to their welcoming bed. The two would lay down for the night, arm in arm, heart to heart, with Raven's final words, "Thank you for being here... with me" being a calming lullaby lulling the two into a gentle sleep.
