Revamp-tober Day 10: Villainous
For October I'm challenging myself to take an old OC who needs a redesign or just some attention and giving them a fresh new look each day! See the full prompt list here!
Day 10: Villainous
The Serpent was my first "real" villain I ever made. As a kid, I wasn't really "allowed" to make "evil" characters, only "misunderstood" ones, and thus little baby Spai ended up taking that rule and making a lot of morally gray/fairly innocent characters that were only villains because they were possessed or otherwise under the control of some bigger evil. The Serpent was the first time that I actually gave that "bigger evil" a character themselves. They were one a much bigger, more powerful being, who destroyed world after world just for the sake of causing the chaos that they craved and sparing only those who groveled before them. Then one world, on the brink of absolute destruction, managed to find a way to stop the Serpent in their tracks. With powerful magic the Serpent's body was shattered into pieces and scattered across worlds, and what was left of their mind was sealed away at the bottom of the sea to slumber. This solution won't last forever, as the Serpent is slowly using the little power they have left to influence mortals into gathering the fragments of their body, and sooner or later they will be whole again, all too ready to watch this world burn.
The Serpent has always been a fun character to draw just because he's so noodley, although they tend to be a lot sillier in drawings than his actual character would be. Regardless I still enjoy his more lighthearted version too c: This Serpent in the picture is how I visually portray his mind, although his physical body is much more beastly, like a traditional sea serpent. The red crystals are the shape that the fragments of his body took after being shattered, but I'm not sure yet if they should be "real" or jut a visual representation of the idea.
