I received carte blanche form
penumbrus for their trusty muttgirl, Eliza - who was arrested partway through a dog transformation, and now works as an avalanche rescue dog! Had the chance to experiment with things like muddy paws covered in snow, and I'd say it works partly for audacity.
We have no sample of how she speaks "imperfectly" with her half formed muzzle, so I had to improvise something people could still read. This despite the fact that one of my biggest conlangs was developed for wolf muzzles (all the labial sounds are linguolabial, for one). I'm definitely open to figuring out how she talks.
That hat is NOT a Stormy Kromer (it's too floppy), despite how perfect it would have been, because the day I drew this, my mom the elementary school librarian weeded out a book about the guy. To be fair, it's probably regional interest. That said, I do sometimes miss the Upper Peninsula. The silence, the Superior, the pasties. The hats with the flaps.

An amusing scene, all around. I can only imagine how good she is at finding things, with the powerful sense of smell AND the ability to read maps [if only she had someone else there to be a map caddy / folder]

I did wonder how you were going to tackle the theme of "map". And I daresay Eliza's not the only one who has made the same lament about difficult-to-fold maps.

To be fair, even those with thumbs can have difficulty folding maps. Someone get this doggirl satnav!
