Elwyr had seen the wildfire that had destroyed Akuna's home, so once he found out about a dragon that lived there, he wanted to try and help. However, Akuna had quickly begun to believe that the fire was started explicitly to target her, and thus began to distrust everyone around her.
Doesn't help that Elwyr and Akuna don't speak the same language.
