**Giggles!**
If you have been watching me for any length of time, you know of my love and romanticism for pirates and the lifestyle without much realism of how hard and cruel it can be. All of my daydreaming of the life takes away all of the fun and nothing of the facts, which is why we have fantasy. Granted a lot of my friends don't get the attraction, just like they don't get the inflation and expansion aspects of my passions, but that's ok. There are a lot of thing that my friends like that elude me, like their love for shows that I just cannot stand or fathom any sort of appreciation outside of a detached appreciation for the strength and loyalty of the fans. Fans for any series are the bread and butter for the creative mind, whether it be a lowly gal like me who sometimes does an appreciated story or role-playing bit to the Hollywood actress who stands up and gives her fans her heart and soul! Ah yes! That I understand all too well! My mother had her own loyal base of fans that she had through the years and probably still has some out there with her books. While I have always wanted a bit of that myself, I know the dangers of what fame and fortune can do to one's heart. "Too much of any one thing can be bad." That was an old wisdom, quietly spoken by Pop a few times, especially to me when I saw Mom soaking in the attention that she got at the parties that she threw back in the 1980s! Tremendous! For me, these days, all I want is the respected allowance of letting me work at my own speed, though one friend has often mention his own wish to see me try harder. Bless him!
For this glorious gift by a long-time friend and fan of my work, I present to you something really cute and special from one of the masters of inking, the talented MannyMojito of Deviant Art! There have been a lot of pieces of artwork of the ElastiCat Pirates, the girls getting trapped on the Flip Side as pirates, something that Israfel Vincent, the heroine of "Destiny's Daughters!", ends up creating for a comic idea that she "thinks" she invents of the Mighty PlastiCat and Ricochet KaBoom! The Impossible Girl! from the "Stretching Things!" story. Once again, may I respectfully remind you that back when I was creating this distinction between the stories, it used to give
kecomaster a few fits! I'm sure it does a few other artistic friends of mine through the years as well! Enjoy!

Pirates are just as much fun as Ninjas.
Truth to tell, living down here in Tampa, we have this festival every February called "Gasparilla"; it's a huge love-fest for all things pirates, thanks to a local legend of a guy called Jose Gaspar -- a rumored neer-do-well of a buccaneer who apparently prowled the local waters around Tampa Bay -- for which the festival is named.
We have lots of major events, culminating with a big, Mardi Gras-styled parade down Bayshore Boulevard (the stretch of roadway that has the Guinness Book record for the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. All the local businesses, organizations, schools, etc. enter in floats, marching bands, and "Krewes", which allow people to dress up in pirate garb, and toss out strands of beads, coins and other "booty" to the crowds that line the parade route. There's food vendors, souvenirs and fun for all.
I've attended it sporadically over the years -- thought I made sure to attend the 100th Anniversary of the parade -- but I've had fun nonetheless.
Seeing the girls in pirate garb brings back a lot of memories of times spend with my family as we attended the event over the years. Thanks for sharing as always, Princess!

Mm ... while an interesting fellow, the only one I'm familiar with from the past is Edward Teach, the Infamous Blackbeard, honey. Some in my collection of books, I bought a book on pirates that Barnes and Noble sold me, which was a groovy read. Included in the stories was a story about two ladies who were in love with each other and infamous pirates, though for the life of me, I cannot remember their names ...
Let me see ... nope. The book is not on my shelf, so it must be in one of the few boxes that I still have. It was a good bit of information, though I don't remember much about them. Honestly, I'm not surprised since there was a lot of stories about women disguising themselves as men and traveling throughout the world.
I haven't attended the festivals since I don't care for crowds.

Ahh, I know the pair you're referring to!
Anne Bonny and Mary Read! Anne was an Irish borne woman who became involved with an infamous pirate named Calico Jack Rackham. She became a member of his crew, later his partner and lover, as she, him and Mary became notorious for their escapades. They were eventually captured and sentenced to death, but both Bonny and Mary were spared due to them being pregnant at the time of their sentencing.
Jack was executed, Mary later died from a fever (thought to be brought on by her pregnancy), but Bonny's fate was never disclosed, nor the fate of the child she carried.
Understand your not liking crowds. Shame, because I figure you would probably get a kick out of Gasparilla. But still, you should stick to your preferences. Rather you be comfortable and happy, rather than the opposite.

Mm ... now, I remember. A notorious trio to say the least. Thanks for reminding me, honey.
At this time, I wouldn't be good company to party with. Been fighting a bit of depression, brought on by poor financial decisions. But I am getting help from people who care, bosses who really are working hard to help. At least, I'm still in the game and am not loosing. Well, not entirely.

I get you. Been there myself within the last ten years myself. Am getting back to an even keel, even with the problems I've had personally.
Glad to hear you're with the support and help you've been getting. Always good to have people who care to want to see you get better and return to being happy.
Will just say if you ever need someone else to speak to, or even just to sound off if needed? Just ask. No strings or such. Uncomplicated friendships are what helped me in times of need. Figure I should do the same for anyone who needs it.
Keep smiling, Princess. And keep sharing your art, thoughts and stories!
