Commission for the most wonderful
PeltOfAsh - their fursona in a full wolf form staring in wonder at a firefly.
A fragment of the story CaffeineCollie wrote of this scene:
Some time later the fireflies had all tapered off in their displays and a more urgent matter came to mind as my stomach groaned in hungry protest. I shook off a leaf that had stuck to my fur when I’d laid down and let my ears search the forest. A pack of coyotes yowled in the distance, celebrating food they’d found or fallen. I set off in a different direction, searching for a meal of my own.”

PeltOfAsh - their fursona in a full wolf form staring in wonder at a firefly.A fragment of the story CaffeineCollie wrote of this scene:
“I stretched as I turned toward the east, watching as the first peeks of the moon came through the clouds, the wolf within me straining to get out. I knelt in the dirt beside my sleeping bag, controlling my breathing, focusing on what I wanted to change. It was a wordless permission, an agreement between my two halves, my two selves, and the changes rolled through quickly. Fur spread from my spine down my extremities, bones shifted and reformed silently and painlessly, hands and feet became paws, arms became legs, my tail wriggled its way out of my skin and strained against my now ill-fitting pants before they gave way. Like every other time my head changed last, my blunt human teeth falling out and landing with a soft patter on the ground as my face pushed out into a muzzle filled with new, deadlier instruments. A soft buzzing caught my attention and an ear pivoted to locate it. My head followed and my eyes landed on a mote of green-yellow light just at the edge of the campsite. I approached it slowly, watching as it sank back into the grass before popping right back up to eye level. I tilted my head in wonder. Hey little firefly. I thought, watching it’s choreographed little flight path over and over as the sky grew darker and the moon moved higher.
