I've been there as a kayak upon the water and via hiking around the beach. That day the weather was interesting. It had rained earlier that morning, and was in the process of getting sunny, not warm, but definitely sunny. Its one of my favorite places! So many great 'way off grid' campsites that are both paid (in campgrounds) and otherwise.
