My father's birthday is April 4th. I wanted to make sure I was fully prepared this year.
Since I was just at tiny little girl...I've always thought of my Papa as a big strong gorilla. So big and strong, but so tender and loving towards those he loves. He has always shown a great fondness towards our primate cousins, especially the silver back gorilla and lowland gorilla.
He has always called me his "little monkey"...despite the fact that gorillas aren't monkies...but regardless, it's a cute little nickname my father has given me and I hold dear. More often then not, I'll get a pat on the back followed by a "Whatcha doin' monkey-butt?" and it's never insulting...it's just dad's way of greeting me and checking to make sure all is well.
Dad...I love you so much. Happy Birthday..I cannot wait to see your reaction when you get this painting all neatly framed and ready for display should you choose to display it.

This is really sweet! I love it. The color palette came out really soothing.
I did something similar for my dad one year too. X3 He always gives "bear hugs" and used to play "big bear" with us when we were little, he'd pick us up and be all like RARRRRR!! hahaha. Also he is obsessed with fishing but rarely catches the big fish, so I drew him a dad bear and a baby bear. (here is is if your curious: http://www.synchrastudios.com/galle.....rcent.jpg.html )

Thank youuu! Dad would do this little "skit" if sis and I wouldn't go to bed when mom told us to...he'd go running through through the house, swinging his arms and making all kinds of ape-sounds and mom would be like "Go to bed or the monkey's going to get you!" XD I will never forget it...once you reach a certain age, it stops being funny and gets embarassing. LOL
