Jack could hide underground with Earth Mend (3rd point of Protean discipline) but Veronica couldn't do that, so he suggested her to drink his blood so he could teach her Earth Mend, and she had to learn it very fast in dangerous conditions of having chance burning alive if she failed. Jack didn't leave her side until she could absorb into earth 🥺💖
