Two years ago, after the re-election of Aung San Suu Kyi, a military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing took over, and its people have been struggling ever since.
One of the more egregious examples is when a squad stormed a home looking for the family's teenage son. When the father said they didn't know where he was, a soldier called him a liar and gunned down their six-year-old daughter, who was in his arms at the time. They had to bury her in secret.
Basically, it sent a clear message to the Burmese people: "ခင်ဗျားတို့ထဲက ဘယ်သူမှ လုံခြုံမှုမရှိဘူး."
