Worldbuilding: The Variant Phenomenon

The Variants. An offshoot of human evolution, caused by a meteorite crash landing in the Cradle of Life. This meteorite exuded a form of unusual radiation, prompting changes to happen in the genome. Fast forward to today, roughly forty three percent of human life are Variants. Along with thirty two percent of terrestrial life, twenty-seven of arboreal life, and twenty one percent of aquatic life being Variants.

Variants can form combinations of random mutations or adaptations, including but not limited to: Increased muscle and bone density, increased flexibility of the hips and spine, increased flexibility of joints, heightened senses, higher cognitive acumen, etc.
