K-Pop: Better In The Original Klingon
"K-Pop is much better in the original Klingon."
A script inspired by the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode "Subspace Rhapsody". When I first saw "Subspace Rhapsody", I was puzzled about why the Klingons saw the spread of the Musical anomoly as a "dishonor". Klingons love poetry and opera, and what Klingon wouldn't want to star in their own personal opera? That is, until we find out that Klingon opera isn't the form of what the Klingon experience of the anamoly takes, but instead, they are compelled to sing in K-Pop style. Then I remembered the line from Star Trek VI about Shakespeare being so much better in the original Klingon, and an idea took root in my brain and wouldn't let go until I made this script.
The band name, Qapla'XO, is wordplay on the K-Pop group "EXO" and the Klingon word for success, "Qapla'," with the "XO" from "EXO". You'd pronounce it "kuh-PLAH-sho".
