Reference sheet for an alien species' idea I've been toying with between comissions.

I'm pretty crappy designing stories (by pretty I mean very) but I like doing historical backgrounds.
Anyways, I taught up one for a couple of characters I'm interested in (I'll do another ref sheet of the other guy's species) but I'll post the whole deal as a separate text submission, to avoid cramming this comment.

In a nutshell, this race used to have a symbiotic relation with another one, both of which had fairly advanced intelligence and technology (interplanetary-travel level).
The text I'll submit later tells more or less the social evolution of this race from the crisis the loss of the original symbiotic partners generated, to the eventual solution they achieved and how they reached that path.

SPECIES INFO

The physical aspects of this species is pretty straightforward.
They tend to be pretty massive, ranging from stout to chubby, but hardly ever slender.
The horn-shaped things aren't really horns but hardening protrusions of skin (allways blunt, never sharp), which can appear pretty much on any part of the body, but tend to apprear on certain parts more (i.e. they CAN have them in the butt, but less than %0,1 of the population would).
The coloration varies from a yellowish orange to dark red and in some rare cases a bit purplish. It is regular in the whole body, save for a slight darkening in the areas which show protrusions.
The reproduction is a process associated with the symbiotic relationship, but due to the loss of the original race which whom they mated with, it has become an artificial procedure. That is to say, they all have one sex, which isn't male or female (even though secondary sexual markers makes them look more like males to most other humanoid species).
The hardened skin stubs are a marker of age, and thus are quite important to them. They are social symbols of the level of maturity of the individual and are cared for greatly.
There are cases of individuals which have no protrusions at all, but they are extremely rare, considered a genetic defect, and generally treated as pariahs.
