This is a 3D printed fursuit eye mesh. It is actually the rafts of 3 different prints layered over/next to each other. Exluding time spent researching, modeling, and adjusting the slicer, this took around 10 to 15 minutes to print.
As you can tell from the image, vision is pretty good. It's at least on par with buckram.
Considering the ease of printing I can't imagine myself going back to painting eyes, but this obviously isn't a solution for everyone. You need access to a 3D printer, you need to have minor 3D modeling skills, and you need 3D printer filament which usually costs around $20/kg/color. I spent $60 today buying the 3 colors I needed. Buckram, paint, and paint brushes would've cost at most $30.
This solution could also use more refinement to make it look better and be easier to produce, but I think it works as a proof of concept.
