Along the southern mainlands of Galemuriand it's swamplands lay a vast swampland not only for hundreds of miles long but also teeming with a variety of species not limited to Shreem. The Long Clawed Balnuk was quite a suprise find to de Loso specialist. At first it had been assumed the Balnuk had been resting above the waters on large branches. Upon closer study it was the found however that the Balnuk themselves have developed an incrediblely long set of arms extending close to eight feet and longer. Such a misunderstood act however has yielded the Balnuk as a seemingly stealthy predator amongst the water life in Galemuriand. Patiently waiting above the water line, the Balnuk would both be watching from above and sensing from below with it's sensitive fingers for possible fish and prey. Upon drawing closer, the Balnuk would sumerge itself hastily and retract from the water with it's meal.

The powerful compact jaws of the Balnuk have adapted for years to make quick work of whatever would enter them without the involvement of any secondary help. More fascinating however was the speed at which the Balnuk could migrate within the waters. Contradictory to belief however it was found the Balnuk are in fact an aquatic species of Shreem, a fine pair of gills seemingly tucked in between the tips of their claws was found to filter air throughout the Balnuk and infact indicated the balnuk did not breath from any secondary organ on it's body above water.
