Something a lil random I sketched up to try and help break me out of an art rut. Boys and girls meet Cor the Velneen.

The Velneen were once a biological species living at the edge of the galaxy. Reletively isolated from the rest of the galaxy the Velneen did not develop interstellar travel or awareness of non Velnia live until after what they call "Second State" The Velneen are now a completely synthetic species though at first glance you'd never know it. They're systems are so advanced and mimic biology so well that most sensors actually read them as a life form despite their bodies being composed of completely artificial materials. Velneen culture is very open and friendly with am emphasis on trade. Velneen have good relations with a fellow synthetic species the Synkal. Velneen reproduction works much as it does in humans although with some key differences. For one DNA as it is known in organics is not used. Instead a synthetic analogue is used. Offspring are born in an infant state and develop over time as any biological lifeform would. The amount of time it takes for a Velneen to mature however varies from individual to individual and is dictated by they mental development. Velneen offspring are also born gender neutral. Only upon reaching a developmental stage akin to puberty do they then choose a gender. This option however is not permanent and can be changed at any time if the individual chooses. Some choose to remain gender neutral. Velneen at the end of the day are stronger, faster, more reliant, and smarter than most organics.

Cor is a relatively young Velneen. Age approximating 15 in human years. Cor has chosen male as his gender in part due to his own attraction to said gender. Cor has shown some interest in sports and a proficiency at them as well as an aptitude for art in many forms. Cor is still undecided as to what he wants to do with his life. However unlike organics he has the luxury of time and the knowledge that he won't need to decide until he's ready. Cor has also shown interest in many human activities living on a world jointly colonized by both species. One of the sports mentioned that he likes is soccer. He has also developed a bit of an interest in human subcultures as well. Upon reflection anthropologist may end up being his future career path.
