There is evidently something innate within most dragons that drives them to seek out or design a lair that includes a scenic overlook of their territory. Even despite their ability to fly with ease making such a feature unnecessary, as they should always have easy access to an elevated view of their lands regardless. But no, it seems that they desire such a view to be accessible right from the moment they emerge from their lair, and to include a nice platform for them to lay down and take in the view.
I suppose that much like dragons' innate desire to hoard, there is no simple explanation for this common trait they all share. They are as varied as any normal person, yet even the most evil and most kind dragons have a surprising amount of qualities in common. While some dragons might appreciate a vantage point to watch for intruders on their territory at little effort, Craddock certainly appreciates it for a different reason.
The mere sight of his lands fuels him. It gives him such a sense of pride and motivation that allows him to accomplish so much for his age - being relatively young for the success he has found, despite being older than most humans will ever live to be.
Craddock may show modesty when the topic of his achievements is presented to him, but that is only because his politeness helps maintain and improve his many fruitful relationships. In reality he is extremely proud of himself, and he derives great joy from that pride. He is likely considering just how great he has become as he watches the sun rise over his mountainous lands, only feeding back into his confidence in himself.
While pride is a staple of all draconic culture, and while Craddock appears quite self-aware of his own, nonetheless he harbors an extraordinary amount of the vice within him, and he holds it near and dear to his heart.
This wonderful piece of art was done by
Rimentus !! And is in fact one of his first completed commissions in a while, which I am super honored to receive!! I really love Rim's art style, especially when it comes to his dragons, and I am so happy with how this piece turned out!! I highly recommend watching him if you have not already!
Make sure to check out the original on Rimentus' page HERE!!!
