A slight redesign of the Manticore species to make it more 'my own'. Based partly on the mention of being able to 'fire' their tail spines and what comes to mind for that then porcupines! Hence the quill laden tail as well as the ridge of them running down their backs. Lore wise: the manticore were originally part of the great feline empire before it's fall, one of the many grand fighting companies founded by a lion named Manti. Early on they split from the empire proper to become mercenaries with their primary paymasters being the Dragons. During this time, they lacked their more prickly aspects... those would come later as their ties with the dragons deepened....
