Goodness, that background just oozes style. With that bold use of color, all the "wonk" and whimsy, so much angularity and subtle abstract touches, you have something I feel is sufficient to elevate this piece from "adorable art" to "a masterpiece of modern art that I would love to have as a framed 2-by-3-foot poster hanging on the wall of a workplace hallway if I had a workplace"! ...And of course the characters - especially with how much personality is apparent in those expressions - are the icing on the cake!
