Decades ago, a terrible and dark tyrant held the world in the grip of his tyranny, but ultimately heroes rose, managing to defeat the villain. With his dying power, he used his terrible magics to bring about his reincarnation in the next generation. With his final breath he promised the heroes and the world his vengeance.
Exhausted and injured, the heroes breathed deep in the relief of their very narrow victory, before they considered the tyrant’s dying words. On that day, they vowed to tell the world of the tyrant’s reincarnation and stop this Tyrant Reborn.
It was not long until Traycois was born. Possessing the Tyrant’s dark looks and wielding the same magic, Traycois has been hunted as the Tyrant Reborn for as long as he can remember. Unable to remember his previous life, he only knows of the sickening crimes he is hated for from the stories people tell.
Feared and hated by most, regardless of his actions, he has not had an easy life. Often blamed for things unfairly and sometimes framed by others hiding their own crimes, many a hero and bounty hunter has pursued Traycois. Surviving by thievery and wits, he has found a strange act of rebellion by announcing his heists and burglaries in advance, targeting the very rich and powerful, and putting on a very public display of getting away with his thefts.
Of the small fortunes he steals, some of it he spends recklessly on fun and excess, burning through it quickly, but the rest he gives to the downtrodden and vulnerable. Seeing in them a mirror of his own struggles, he has come to be seen by some as a guardian of the hard done by.
Despite constantly being on the outside of society, with life pushing him to accept being the villain others think he is, he is constantly struggling to be his own person and be something better. But in his darkest moments, as his body shudders with barely contained power, he can’t help but wonder if being the monster is his inescapable fate.
Traycois, for who this account is named after, is a character that has a lot of meaning to me. I wish to share his story at some point.

I could have sworn I had replied. >_<
The rough gist is that the Tyrant has destroy most of the world. He’d cast a ritual that was slowly covering the world in a dark shadowy miasma, that drained the life force from those it touched. When the Tyrant was slain, it stopped the spreading of the miasma and draining of those who touch it, but it is filled with the twisted remnants of those it already drained. The remnants seem to be monstrous echoes of themselves, wandering the miasma aimlessly. They seem to hate people, but hate light even more.
Two city states, Solven and Melkarii, both survived and remained outside the miasma. They have a history of war and conflict, but after the Tyrant’s reign, they are both now reliant on each other to survive. The two big things they need of each other: Solven has the water and Melkarii the food.
As far as they can tell, they are the only places left untouched. Though most of what has happened to the world is unknown. Separated by a small stretch of the miasma, the two cities have carved a path through it. Maintained with a constant vigil, the path is regularly relight by patrols between the periodic forts. A most dangerous job, this work and the hard fought for path allows caravans to bring each city the things they desperately need to survive.
