Nature - a true story - a Thursday Prompt
Just a little bit of work related personal history I have as a fur.
*smiles... Megaplex was wonderful - we had such a good TP panel discussion.

Telling management No and sticking to it is definitely an important lesson I learned. Unfortunately in my line of work (and my lower title) usually management would just find some less experienced engineer and convince them to do it anyways. Luckily, at worst this means a buggy feature in the game and an overworked engineer rather than anything dangerous.
Personally I've always kept my furry side rather on the down low although at this point I am sure everyone knows or at least suspects, we just don't talk about it. The one open fur that I ended up working with on a professional level really was the type who did absolutely no favors in diminishing any stereotypes of the fandom and more than likely made the perception even worse.

I mostly cloak my furry self in Pokémon and occasionally Disney. Some people just can’t connect the dots by looking past the big name IP.
“A colleague looking so bad that you look a whole lot better” is a universal occurrence across workplaces. It was hard for my work to ever look bad when my now fired coworker was claiming to have completed work she literally never started.

I remember when I was on HMS Portland and left a fursuit head I made down one of the messdecks at halloween (we were in Cardiff, I recall, and it was a very messy run ashore) and it got passed around a bit. Next morning I got a message off one of the comms lads asking "you furry? Me too! That head you made was awesome!" *fox sticker*
Good job he was a sound lad, so I didn't have to worry about a head poking through my pit curtain in the middle of the night going "uWu".

Most of the jobs I've held were the type that primarily employed a lot of 'good ole country boy' types. You know, the kind that don't abide their co-workers being... different. So I've never tried to communicate to them about my interests. Just wasn't worth the hassle and/or conflict.
Well... I have lost friends is the worse. The best is like the most recent and ongoing - I bumped into a neighbor walking her dog. She is somewhere in her 30's. We talked of dogs and such, and then I mentioned writing and being a furry. We have exchanged emails and she is very open to this.

Anthro stuff is what happens on my computer. And stays there. People who know me in real life know nothing about this hobby. I don't really see any worth trying to communicate it to other people. I have plenty of other hobbies, movies, TV-shows, video games, walking, gym, I am interesting without this one hobby. Besides, I barely talk about movies, TV-shows, and video games, because the people I am currently associating with are not that much into them. I don't feel incomplete. I don't need acceptance. I prefer having private things I don't share with other people. In my opinion, some people share too much.
Wonderful read. I am feeling both approval and confusion. We just operate in such different ways.

I admit to evil. I not only am a Furry but I make damn sure others know it too. Anyone want a coyote confrontation? I'll give lessons on 'Furry Culture'. I was furry before furry was. When I die, I'll be cremated in a fursuit... with my middle pawfinger pointing straight up. Furry sex? Fuckin'a.. I don't shave. Fur suit? No, dammit... it's real. Stop pullin on it!
I've gotta say, I think you have the perfect philosophy on sharing your participation in the fandom. Not going out of your way to shove it in anyone's face, but not hiding it either, and answering anyone who asks about it frankly and without shame. In my experience, as long as you're a decent person, no one will be put off by it -- no one worth talking to, anyway.
Of course, this all goes hand in hand with the traditional excellent Vixxy prose. I love the way you describe where Nick's head was planted, how you fully characterized him with just a few facts (who can even fall asleep on a ladder?), and how you tie up the message of the story with that heartwarming clip about Metaplex. I'm glad you had a good time (and would love to hear any aviation stories you have to share) ^^

I remember being told "grow up" Meaning "stop growing and fit into the pigeon hole you've been assigned" Funny how you can strip to the waist and paint letters on your chest in the hopes of being on the broadcast of a football game, but heavens forbid being a furry!
I have interacted with more accepting people and my tribe is international; doesn't matter the language but we speak furry OwO?
