Interesting. How does she drain her glow? I thought they had to use special light-blocking fabric from that one short story.

So the glow depletes naturally over time or by using the magic. So she could wait or do a megablast of light that drains her fully. Or she can store it for later in a lantern. The reason Kyri use light blocking fabric is because the glow is part of their religion and it is uncomfortable to be rid of it. Most of them have never experience true darkness. They also may believe it is offensive to the sun to get rid of it. But if mylar is in a situation like this where theres no real alternative she would ditch the light and feel a bit bad about it.

Oh, super cool! I know you've said there's also a splinter group of Kyri that don't glow, which descended from the Kyri. Does that mean they could glow, they just chose not to? Or are they unable to glow at all?

Kyri glow because of a connection to the sun. the splinter group was not there during the pilgrimage into the west, where The sun brought them to their new planet and made granted them it’s power
