Finally able to draw something after a very annoying shoulder injury. I’ve actually had a few finished pieces of Whiplash I plan on posting after this, but I wanted to properly draw something instead of uploading something I drew prior. I landed on doing an icon of Phantom since I kept delaying his. I had to think harder about how I’d execute drawing him since like Abaddon, he lacks a lot of facial features. Just with the added difficulty of being pitch black. I ended up using an overhead light source because it allowed me to convey his facial structure with shadows.

Phantom, in terms of what kind of demon he is, is kinda odd, especially considering his father. Abaddon is a goat/cat demon. He has cat and goat features (cat ears, goat hooves and horns, etc). But Phantom is an elk/cat demon. His facial structure is a mix of both, as well as possessing elk-like legs/hooves. Yet, he also retains some subtle canine behaviors from before he was a demon (e.g., tail wagging, head tilting).

Also, more so a small detail I enjoy talking about than anything, is his crown. It’s never directly over his head. It’s always to the side and at an angle. It’s a bit of an allusion to his past life, as well as a symbol of him technically being corrupted. Angel halos are always over their head. Sometimes they wrap around an ear, but they’re always centered in the center of the angel’s head. It’s a really minuscule detail, but I feel it adds some to the lore of demons and angels.
