Yeah actually I started out with a brush, and I've also tried crowquils and pretty much anything else you can dip into a bottle of india ink.
It takes an enourmous amount of control to handle a brush, and I greatly admire those who do it exclusively. I probably would have stuck with it, if not only for the portablitiy and low matinence of pens.
But I agree the speed is better, not to mentio nthe quality of the inki itself, especially for solid blacks.
I do bounce back and forth between a thin pen and a very thick one though, so it cuts the speed down. There is a little sacrifice in line variation that way though.
