Steeple of the ruined St. Nicolas church in central Hamburg. This church was destroyed by the RAF in Operation Gomorrah, the firebombing of Hamburg in 1943. It is still the tallest steeple of the city and was actually the tallest building in the world from 1874 to 1876. Now it serves as a memorial against war.
