(If you like this picture you can commission me here http://vaporeonlugiakrabby.homestea.....mmissions.html .)
$15 Full Color commission for Blizzard Wolf http://www.furaffinity.net/user/blizzardwolf/ of her Mewtwo character, "It" Eskavoi.
Was given a reference sheet to follow and more or less meant to do as I pleased in terms of pose and what not. As long as I didn't do an aura, since hea's not to that category of Mewtwo, hence the scars and spiked cuffs and the like. I sort of fell flat here on two areas. 1.) I had absolutely no idea what background/filler would suit this pose at all. All I know was I wanted some blood splats. 2.) I become semi-frazzled at the notion of drawing a picture for someone who can already draw well. Fear of failure and not wanting to disapoint on my end.
I'm not sure what I really think of the picture upon completion. The color red always bothers me moreso than any other color, mostly since I feel like my attempts at shading it are never right. There is also this level of disconnect between the pose and background that haunts me. The problem with an action pose, or any pose in motion is that it should portray a theme or a story, and I don't think I merged it well. At least the character was interesting for me to draw. Never done the multi-leg joints on a Mewtwo body-type before, and while I've seen many black/red Mewtwos with these characteristics, I've also never drawn one. It was nice for a change.

Just a small critique on the background-character interaction that you mentioned in the comics: It probably isn't helped by the fact that, with the position he's in, it looks like he's stepping / standing on his own tail. Further, if the tail is laying against the ground (and maybe keeping him balanced?) it would probably be flattened along the bottom of it.
Hope this helps :3
