Unique? Hardly. It looks like the whole concept was inspired or ripped from 
Korrok and 
Banrai They've been drawing characters like this for months in the former, years in the latter.
Odd note: This was uploaded 7 hours after Korrok uploaded a fan art badge of somebody with tentacles coming from the mouth in a nearly identical manner.

I've seen Magnus doing the tentacle mouth thing far longer than Banrai. I'm her friend and all and when she started drawing monster Banrai with the tentacle mouth I just assumed she got the idea from Magnus... :\

Dude, don't troll on your mate's behalf, it reflects very poorly on them, and can damage their reputation and thus business. You're really shooting yourself in the foot here.
I mean, someone might as well point out all tentacle mouths are ripping off HP Lovecraft(there's probably folk art too based on sightings and superstitions of cephalopods).
The tentacle mouthed hyenas may or may not originate with Magnusz who is encouraging others to follow suit in making tentacle mouthed characters. I can almost guarantee he probably got the idea from elsewhere in popular culture.
It'd be like me saying no one else can be a purple striped hyena. (Or accusing me of ripping off Herr Aardy for that matter). Or ALL the green hyenas.

lol, thanks guys this whole thing is pretty silly, but i guess what we can take away is...
there is no POSSIBLE way two artists can think of similar ideas independantly of each other. we should all look up whoever came up with the first unnaturally colored fox sona...and proceed to accuse ever other fox artist of copying them, and assume their entire gallery was posted imediately after the original fox came out.

People can be inspired by the same thing, and thus come up with similar concepts. :) Lovecraft is a great inspiration, and I'd assume where you came from with your ideas. Nothing is ever truly 'original', and frankly no one should care too much about it.

i actually got the idea from & it started as a joke but it sort of grew on me. ive actually never read any lovecraft (well not recently enough that i can remember it @ all) but its been on my list for ages.
anyway sorry if i came off snappy @ your husband, im usually a very nice person so i mean no offense.
