Aargh! I can’t believe I haven’t posted this one yet!

Okay, so there’s obviously some backstory here, so here goes…

During Califur 2008, I joined Mitch ( mongooseink) and some other furs for an excursion to grab Korean BBQ for dinner. On our way back, we passed this U-Haul van, which featured a travel-themed graphic (as many do). This one in particular was for Manitoba, Canada, and it portrayed a multitude of giant green snakes, looking around in all directions. It was such a surreal thing to see passing by the car’s windows!

Of course, we found this absolutely hilarious. All we could think of was the tourist slogan, done via cheesy announcer-voice: “Visit beautiful Manitoba, home to GIANT SNAAAKES!!!” And meanwhile, the snakes, bewildered, are thinking, “Wait, what? We can’t let this get out! Gah! Whose idea was this? Who are we going to eat now!? Daagh, we’re so screwed, guys!”

Honestly, I think we laughed all the way back to the con over this. Korean BBQ can make you giddy, after all.

Anyway, at MFF 2009, I commissioned Mitch to immortalize that moment with the above piece. While on vacation, Xyk gets lost in Manitoba. But, wouldn’t you know it, he’s not quite alooone…
