This is the flash drive I've been using to store almost every drawing I've made in the last year and a half, i.e. my entire time as an FA regular. After a long day yesterday, I ejected and unplugged it from my PC, and then re-inserted it a moment later, due to my forgetting to check something.
And nothing happened.
File manager froze for a few moments, and then an error message came up, stating that the drive was "unavailable" and "may have been moved or deleted," and then it ejected itself immediately afterwards.
In other words, it's corrupted. Dead. Not even recognized by either of my computers, other than the name and the same useless error message.
So, what this means is, not only am I never going to trust flash storage again, but I'm also probably going to be a while between posts right now, until I can figure something out. After all, I still have a lot that I want to make for you guys, and that's not changing because of this ^^
So, sorry for the sad news, but life goes on I suppose
And yes, this should have been a journal, but I wanted the picture there

This is why I have two backup flash drives alongside my main laptop for storing my stuff. I think it might be the same maker for the 8GB flash drive that taught me the hard way to not rely on a single drive for backups (and I got almost COMPLETELY fucked at a time where my laptop was also fucked). If you can get the flash drive to show up as existing on your computer (as in you could open it up but don't actually do so) you can find a drive decryption software you can try and see if you can pull all the data out of it as it worked for me.
That is awful. I am so sorry. My personal suggestion in the future would be to follow the 321 backup rule. Which involves having three different copies of your data, two of which being on two different types of storage mediums, and one off-site, such as through a cloud platform like Dropbox or Google Drive, or just having an occasional copy of your data on a reliable storage medium that's stowed away somewhere safe like a safe deposit box.
