This was a commission I got last year at CaliFur from
KV1NN4 but which sat in a book pretty uselessly until I finally got my hands on a scanner. From document scanning into TIFF, then conversion to JPG, then adding the tags of Parody and the website link.
Here we see Colette and Violet from The Thea Sisters, a pretty nice educational book series from Italy, which has been translated (And possibly chopped to bits) for American consumption. (One of the ones that I have in Italian finally came out in English. I'm going to buy it and compare them side-by-side.)
As you can see, I like to pair them up. Glamor-girl Colette makes such a wonderful contrast with bookish gal Violet.
Characters belong to Edizione Piemme/Atlantyca and others.

Go to a standard bookstore (I've found Borders is best) and look in the kid's section, specifically the kid's chapter books. Look on the book-locating computer for Thea Stilton if you need more specific directing. There are currently six books available in English. To get the Italian versions, you need a friend in Europe. That's how I got mine.
"Alternate character interpretation" in her own series. Yes, she treats him badly, but USUALLY it's because she wants to make him more bold and to get him out of his rut. She really DOES love her brother, she's just not good at showing it. In her own series she's more of a mother bear figure, even though she mostly just hears about what the Tea Sisters have been up to.
