By the third day of their vacation, the Fox's had explored a large portion of Las Vegas.
They visited the other hotels, ate at the buffets, swam in the pools and visited many attractions.
Remy was drained by that point. He was ready to go home. But it was not over yet.
Mrs. Fox wanted to see the countryside. So, they rented a car and drove north.
The rugged terrain of the Nevada desert spread out before them. The highway seemed to go on into infinity.
They made frequent stops to take pictures. And to relieve themselves.
When they reached the town of Rachel, they decided to stop for lunch, refuel and turn around back to Vegas, much to Remy's relief.
But as they drove back down the highway, nothing looked familiar. They were passing through a vast hilled area of the desert. The paved road gave way to gravel. Nothing looked familiar at all.
It was then that Mr. Fox realized he had made a wrong turn.
"Where are we?" asked Remy.
His father shook his head. "I have no idea."
The entire area was deserted. There were no other vehicles to be seen.
As they made their way forward, they saw a large sign up ahead.
"What's that?" asked Mrs. Fox.
"I'm not sure," said Mr. Fox. "I can't read what it says."
They pulled up to the sign and got out of the car. In big read letters it read: "Warning. Restricted area. No trespassers beyond this point."
"I think we'd better turn around." said Mrs. Fox.
"Oh, absolutely." said her husband.
Remy looked past the warning sign and saw what looked like a white pickup truck parked at the top of the hill. He legs began to tremble. They were probably watching them.
The Fox's returned to their car and turned around.
"I think I know where we are," said Remy. "Right outside Area 51."
"I think you're right on the money." said his father. "Don't worry, we're getting out of here. Before they catch us."
Remy thought back to that time he and Scott were in the bookstore with Marty and Kit Jr.
He knew that they would get a kick out of where he and his parents ended up.
Mr. Fox found his way back on the main road. They would be back in Vegas in no time.
The very next morning, everyone packed their bags, returned the car and made their way to the airport.
For Remy, Las Vegas was a whole new experience for him. It was an adventure of night life, famous attractions and mysterious places in the deserts of Nevada.
