made a beak but it broke two times in the process and then cracked again after it was all sanded and painted. D8 Needless to say he didn't finish his in time for the con.

I know, I can't even afford a partial, food rent and bills tends to eat up my money, not to mention I have a trustee who is helping me with managing my disability money, so even if I did have enough left over, I wouldn't be able to get one because my mom, who of course is the trustee in question, would rather that it goes farther for spending funds than have it all spent in one fell swoop. though the one thing she can't hold onto is tax money, and any money I make myself, since my food, rent and other stuff is taken care of, I would have a bit of extra spending money.
Jeez that sucks. I know how that goes.. I don't have much extra money left after bills.. so luckily I have art commissions to get some extra money in. I just opened a few slots yesterday to start trying to save up for Anthrocon because if I relied on paychecks alone I wouldn't be able to go. (Right now it's still a gamble if I get to go or not!)
