Considering that Beizel is Viz's closest personal confidant and most trusted agent, it's probably safe to say that any information Vizlet knows, he knows. Not least of which because his skills in information gathering means there's very few secrets among the yingets that can be kept from him even if someone tried to.
Considering Beizel's comments on Page 182, Beizel absolutely knows and is being utterly trolling. And/or curious to see just how much "female thoughts" are entering poor Kass's mind.
The lack of blush (like on Page 122) makes me think this is "barely restrained murder impulse" instead of "intrusive scav thoughts", though. ^_^;;

This begs the question though, HOW does he know? I mean, the idea of someone just magically changing both species and gender is no more likely in their world than in ours, at least from their perspective. So he would have had to come accross something that first introduces him to the idea that it's possible, as well as PROVING that it's possible convincingly enough to make a practical and intelligent spymaster believe that it is, AND then link the idea that it's possible with the idea that it has not only happened, but happened to THIS yinglet.
Of course overhearing just the right conversation at just the right time would do it, but even that's unlikely considering how closely this secret is being kept. Especially in a certain enclave and from a certain other patriarch.
This brings up the possibility that Beizel has another source, in which case he just might know more about the situation than anyone else, including Vizlet, Narklet and even Kass himself.

Beizel isn't the only one who figured it out.
The Head Surgeon figured it out simply by the fact that there is both a Human and a Yinglet named Kass listed as Ivenmoth personnel and they disappeared/appeared around the same time. Beizel being the master spy he is may have seen the same list.
There is also the fact he's probably seen how unladylike Kass is while in Val'Salia, Vizlet has probably had him keep an eye on Kass since the incident with Brakka.

He's also been spying on things like Vizlet's conversations with Viracroix, where they discuss it openly. Vizlet isn't that worried about Beizel and wouldn't reveal the possibility, and Viracroix and House Ivenmoth seem to be unaware of the security hole that is the vents. Beizel could also have been spying on conversations Viracroix was having with people, or peeking in to see what the Diplomat is doing with the Head Researcher or constantly visiting the hospital.
Even Lopin didn't realize the air vent tunnels could be used for yinglets to travel (He thought they were just holes), so it's highly likely that the people in the House that know the secret are also unaware of the possibility, and not taking steps to prevent someone in them from overhearing.

Hmm. I think you have the most likely theory, Typhin. Malinter is right about how the Surgeon figured it out, but as good as Beizel is, I doubt he could easily get access to the Ivenmoth personnel rosters. The only problem is, did he have the time to overhear Vizlet and Viracroix talking about this at some time before today?
I still think it's unlikely, but your theory definitely makes the most sense so far.

He had to have known before today, because Elim's hospital bed was among the first stops of the day, and that's when he revealed he knew. I like to think he has general orders to "snoop around for anyzhing you find interesting" whenever he's in the city. But he absolutely pries into everything and sneaks around. (One of my favorite Beizel lines is in Page 61: "It is not my job to not know zhings.") He could totally have overheard conversations between Kass and friends, Viracroix and Ran, or any number of pairings.
Actually, I just noticed that on that page, he's discussing what he learned from overhearing Lopin's testimony, in the same conversation where Kass explained what Zhat Zhing did, so that's likely when he discovered it. It could be that Vizlet told him and he wasn't sure he believed it, but was willing to go along with it the same way Vizlet was willing to go along with Viracroix's "plan" when she thought it was fake.

Beizel has connections throughout the city. The example of the man he paid for smuggling one of his people into a tradehouse's storeroom would be one of hundreds of deals he's made with human citizens of the city. He would have pieced the truth together by talking talking to Kass' friends and associates. I think part of his trolling of Kass here is actually giving Vizlet shit about not trusting him with the truth.
1. I can see the lady's literature is in good, capable hands!
2. Looks like this almost became canon. Almost.

Oh my goodness Beizel XD
He has to know given he's the spymaster. Poor Kass getting emotions out then getting hit by another emotion truck with Beizel messing with her like this.
I am so, so grateful that Kass is open to talking with Viz about all this. She just needs more time with all the trauma she's been through.
Grateful Kass has such amazing friends to help her deal with all of it.

Honestly, I expect Beizel actualy means it. He respects females that are able, and willing to take care of themselves. Heck, most of the patriarches seem to follow in that. About the only one that does not is clueless boy, but, considering he has mostly been brainwashed to follow the line, its going to take a bit before hes able to see things elsewise.
Course, I am not saying that Beizel does not wanna nail Kass good and proper eather.

I also suspect that he's trolling both Kass and Vizlet here. Considering that Beizel is the enclave's spymaster and actually seems to be pretty good at his job, there's very little chance he doesn't at least suspect that Kass wasn't originally a yinglet. This is a good way to get solid confirmation of his suspicions while at the same time getting a jab at Vizlet for not just telling him directly.
Beizel may look like a ninja and have the skills of a rogue but he's really letting his horny bard out with this display.
And I'm willing to bet a lot of us have at least heard about 'exposure therapy' but I highly doubt that will work with Kass's problems.
Gods I love this series.

Hello, OOPs fans! I'm here to remind you yet again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
OOPs closed out last month at around 49th place and around 986 votes. It's currently at 624 votes and 60th place. The highest it's reached is 36th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes. Just a little left in the month, so vote, vote, vote!
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

I love how Beizel continues to so perfectly embody his role in the enclave, yet never comes across as simple or under-developed.
Such strong undertones of "I know everything", while also being so well hidden as direct and unapologetical flirting, that those who don't know will remain blissfully unaware of the overall situation.
Oh, Ran would've loved to be present to witness Beizel's masterful teasing, although I'm not sure the world would survive a friendship forming between the two, haha.
Also, yay for Pekkit getting trusted with more books! She's going to have a wonderful time reading and learning everything, I'm sure.
In summary; Valsalia's worldbuilding is amazing. <3

Considering he was probably listening in. He probably wanted to change Kass' train of throught from a dark place to somewhere lighter albiet awkward. Hence his performance here.
Tbh, that is how Kass functions - kinda like the time Elm asked him if he'd figured out how peeing worked - just "NOPE" into a different situation ASAP.

This raises the question how attractive Beizel is to the average yinglet.
+Patriarch
+Dark & Mysterious
+Athletic
+Highly skilled spymaster
We've already established that Yings are attracted to strength, and to whatever can provide them with protection. While I haven't seen any evidence of Beizel being physically strong, I think we can all expect him to be just as dangerous in combat.
Basically what I'm wondering is: What part of Kass' mind is "he called me a LADY I'm not a LADY" and what part is "oh no he's hot"?

I know he's attractive as heck to me, so my guess is "very". Beizel is Bae. ^_~
Kass doesn't have the blush seen on Page 122 when Elim took off his shirt. So my guess is that this is more "barely restrained murder impulse" than "intrusive scav thoughts". Also, he might be putting this in context of his discussion with Vizlet and having a train of thought along the lines of "I nearly got eggnant from Brakka and gang, male yinglets can do that to me, this is a male yinglet offering to do that to me, no no nonONONO!"

Y'all in the comments, there IS another option. Beizel could know and just not care and be sincere. Kass is a person he finds attractive, he shoots his shot like Puss in Boots, he's chill no matter the outcome. No one's fault he doesn't know what Kass would want to hear or realize the implications of what Kass JUST went through. He doesn't have to be trolling.
...but all that could be true and he could still get off on making Kass stammer like a cutie.

Also the product of selective breeding.
Both's Beizel's inteligence (information gathering and memory) and his colours (he's all black so has natural camouflage in the dark) make him practically born to be stealthy and a spymaster.
(Ofc this can go horribly wrong. Vizlet & Figgins produced hyper-intelligent offspring but they're all riddled with mental problems because they think too much - Lippie being one example. Vizlet however thinks it might be her age that caused this.)

That's fair, though some of the other patriarchs also speak a bit stunted, maybe it has something to do with age too? since matriarch Vizlet also speaks very eloquently and we know she's the elder matriarch of the enclave, could have something to do with human interaction too, since she is speaking in the language of House Ivenmoth, like how the others like the Baxxid seem to get better at speaking the more they do it.
I suspect it's less age and more experience. For example, we know Vizlet was a wanderer when she was younger, before returning to the enclave. Beizel has easily had the most opportunity to interact with humans of all of the patriarchs, simply because of his area of expertise. So it's hardly surprising he's as eloquent as he is, because he's had the ability and the need to practice talking in the human manner far more often.
Beizel laying it on thiiiick. Cute ship though, I think kassen would enjoy him if they got to know each other.
so happy for pekkit too!!! with a dictionary her wordsing will be unstoppable!!! extremely good. Hopefully deema will get to share the book-carrying around a bit more with all the yings together

OH Goddess! ^.^ I'm not sure who to feel sorrier for...
Deema at least seem to have a bit of help...
Kass, she's going to be needing more up in the air therapy from Isher! ^.^
Vizket will likely make Beizel carry the books back since he has so much energy.
Beizel.... "particularly amorous" That the nice way of saying "Randy lil horndog and exhibitionist"?? ^.~
Need a spreadsheet and a score card (pun intended) to keep up with his antics. I don't know as I'd call it trolling Kass, but he's certainly having fun at her expense.... And knows it.

I have a strong suspicion that Beizel knows exactly what's going on with Kass - it would be far too unlike his established character for him not to. So while it might not be outright trolling, he's absolutely laying it on thick just to get a rise out of him. And I think he's also taking a jab at Vizlet for not outright telling him of Kass'... "situation."
Oh Beizel knows! Not just that it would be out of character. Though I also think if he could score with Kass he'd do it in a heartbeat too >:)
I don't remember if she hinted about it at one point. If he hadn't stopped she would have been dragging him out by his ear though. ^.^

Hm... hmmm. Interesting. Teasing, or intentional distraction from a 'simple-minded' yinglet who reads the dictionary (and everything else she can get her mitts on) for fun, and probably will have finished it in a day or two with perfect retention? In spite of considerable provocation, the Matriarch hasn't exactly been disabusing Kass of the notion that yinglets are naturally stupid.
I'd say it's out of character for him not to know. Part of this is probably him jabbing at Vizlet for just not telling him directly. Also probably a bit of genuine attraction, but laying it on thick both because he likes messing with people and because Vizlet occasionally needs to be taken down a peg.
Interesting aim for Beizel to fuck with Kass by emphasizing his femininity. Makes me wonder if he witnessed or heard the moment Poak first approached Kassen and asked to bang. And now Beizel is simply taking his turn to get an awkward, uncomofrtable reaction out of Kass, purposely for his own amusement.
Rather unfortunate for Kass as that's truly how all the patriarchs will see him: as a female. Even Beizel, who knows otherwise but I don't doubt that what he says and how he feels is sincere.
Also Pekkit's got dem books; She gonna uncover a conspiracy, I'm sure of it.

Oh no, the poor guards, their flimsy stick arms are overburdened with knowledge. What will happen if quick stabbing action is needed and they are too tired to lift their spears?
Then again, if the enemy should prove to be another yinglet, I suppose they could simply dump the stacks onto their scav heads.
