The Avatar of the Blue Moon
(clothes version to come soon) (He/She) Eeriita is the leader of what the skeksis empire ends up labeling a 'death cult'. While they do have a heavy focus on death in the themes of their religion, it isn't too far beyond normal Dousan beliefs asides from the notable exception of Emperor skekSo. Their central deity is skekEer, as the group is descended from the spies that escaped the purge which occurred after her death. Eer's death 60 years ago has been mystified, and she is now viewed as a goddess of both death and life to the Order of the Lady of the Broken Beak. Her acolytes value boldness, decisiveness, and passion in all things. They tend to be scrappy and happy to fight, but do not typically throw their lives away or kill without need. For does the Lady not tell them to thrive rather than survive? The only cause worth dying for is the death of the Moon-Slayer, the Emperor skekSo. They do not view the skeksis empire as valid, for they believe Eer's teachings that the skeksis were meant to live without control over one another. In order to further to goal of avenging the Hidden Moon, Eeriita challenges the Dousan Maudra for the right to lead, and succeeds in 99 trine A.D..
More Notes:
-Eeriita's cult has a similar moon belief system to the Sifa, as Eer was trying to adopt the Dousan as her clan prior to her death, just like Sa patronizes the Sifa. Members generally specialize on a certain Path. The Hidden Path are your classical spies and the heart of the group, the Blue/Warrior Path are the best warriors and tend to be those who take great pride in protecting the group. The Pearl/Shepard path are the healers and spiritual path, and tend to mediate and prevent needless violence. If someone both looks and exemplifies one of the exalted skeksis, they may be declared as an Avatar of said skeksis and assume a portion of the leadership duties.
--The Hidden Moon represents skekEer, and as such, she is sometimes called the Hidden Lady. Represents both life and death, the thrill of uncertainty and the grounding warmth of surety, duality in all its forms. Considered a patron and protector of non-binary individuals, the sickly, and the injured. Her colors are sable, pink, and a vibrant blue. She accepts no sacrifices, but instead gains glory through the feats of her followers, and waits for them at the end of the path when it is time to move to the next life to hear their stories on the way.
--The Blue moon represents skekShod, also called the Warrior Moon. Represents ferocity, ownership of beautiful things, and protecting one's family. Considered a patron of men, the betrayed, and lost. His colors are grey-blue, blue-green, and purple. Any sort of gleaming metal or stone is an acceptable sacrifice, but well-wrought and carved beads are considered the best. Tattoos are typically done under the light of the Blue Moon, so that the Warrior's attention and protection might be drawn. A golden bead owned by skekEer and passed down through the leaders of the cult is given to the Avatar of the Blue Moon when there is one, for the Blue Moon weeps for the Moon's Shadow.
--The Pearl Moon represents skekZok, also called the Shepard Moon. Represents gentleness, the majesty of the natural world, and mercy. Considered a patron of women, parents, and children, but the Shepard welcomes all into his flock. His colors are white, evergreen, and deep blue-green, though anything iridescent falls under his domain. Sacrifices to him tend to be incense, things that smell good, or burning rare wood that's in short supply in the desert. As he's also considered the god of path-finding, it's traditional to make a map of the journey through the clan's territory on an iridescent insect wingcase, and burn it when that same camp is returned to.
-Eeriita is an Avatar of the Blue Moon/skekShod, but as a he/her enby, is also considered under the direct protection of the Hidden Lady, and thus super qualified for leadership. He's the primary leader of the Order starting in 96 trine A.D., and ends up as the Maudra of the Dousan clan after 99 trine A.D.. It remains to be seen just what path the Dousan will take as preparations for the 100 trine anniversary of the founding of the skeksis empire begin to be completed...
-The polearm Eeriita's holding was given by skekEer to her favorite spy and legitimate friend. While said friend died in the purge of the spies, the weapon was recovered and is considered a holy relic. It's typically wielded by the Avatar of the Hidden Moon, but as Eeriita is protected by the Hidden Lady and the Avatar of the Warrior Moon (in addition, there being no dedicated Avatar of the Hidden Moon at the moment), she's allowed to wield it.
