Emerging from their cocoon after a few weeks, the next stage of the Xeno-drake life cycle is known as the Drake stage. Remaining smaller than an adult, yet larger than the mature Xenolings, the drake emerges with four fully functional limbs. Boasting significantly greater intellect than the immature stages, drakes can reason and converse in conversation from this point, as well as begin to develop shapeshifting abilities. However, they are still driven to rapidly ingest food to fuel their swift growth.
They more often than not swallow prey whole, adapting their insides to digest almost anything with very little waste. Their venomous fangs continue to aid in this endeavor, despite starting to turn towards the more mature uses of an adult. In hives, drakes are often seen as workers, unable to produce eggs until they are older, they deal with the day-to-day, tending to Xenolings and cocooned hosts. As they grow the spines above their shoulders will swell with the nubs of blossoming wings, until they’re ready to finally molt into their adult form.
