Just an awesome underappreciated Star Trek Character. This is M'ress who was the communication Officer aboard the Uss Enterprise During Kirk's Second tour. There is no explanation where Uhura was she wasn't full time on this tour. This tour was led by Kirk and Spock as the former tour (TOS) Bones joined in as well. Sulu and Scott also returned to their stations. there is no know record of where Checkov was, he did return for the third and final tour of the Constitution Class Enterprise. for the launch of the Enterprise Class 1701 A the original crew led 2 tours and then retired. note 1701 A was oficially considered an Refit constitution class, but it was and entirely new design.

Both Uhura and M'ress have always been favorites of mine.
Uhura and M'Ress both worked the same stations, just not the same shifts. Both also worked the science station at times.
M'Ress brought the Caitian's visibly into the Federation. The race appears in a few books including "Uhura's song" as well as later live action movies. (No she wasn't the three titty cat girl. I think that one was said to be another race. :) ) M'Ress was also brought later into the Star Trek comics. In one of the comics they even had an evil M'Ress. She wasn't from the "Mirror Mirror" Universe though.
The reasons Checkov wasn't in the show was financial. They could not afford the entire original cast.

The joke for Chekov was that he was the youngest and there to scream a lot... :) He knew about that and was good at it.
That and screw up his history with everything being Russian... Like the Klingons :)

We really did need more of the Gorn and Catians. The limits were just the make up and tech of the times..... We need this alien! - Put a bug/spoon on his forhead!!

Yeah I mentioned they made it into some of the live actions... We have come a long way in makeup and such since TOS. (Just look at the Klingons ^.^ )
There has been a ton of art of them and M'Ress. Even some cosplayers. (There has of course been a ton of "What were you thinking" art.)
They were suppose to have been one of the earlier members of the Federation. What I don't get is why you look up Caitians you always get the Kzinti. :P

that's not what i read. The Caitians have only been alternative members of the federation. Without them we would never have known who Jean Luc Picard was, their artificial heart saved his life.
as for the Kelvin story (Abrams) those are not Catians, i mean come on not even cat like ears. Prosthetic ears have been around forever has Abrams never seen Spock? i saw the klingons change and like that , so why not the caitians ? they did it for the reboot of "cats"

Looking at different sites there seems to be a bit of back and forth on some things with them. I suspect mostly because of fan writings and such.
As to Abrams...Yeah, that was my point. He dropped the ball hard there. No fur, wrong ears and the eyes They look like Asian woman with tails...
It's why I cringe at many things in his Star Trek alternate universe. The man doesn't write his own stories, He "reinvents" others.
He did Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII), It's rewrite of Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)
He's better than Bay at least.. though that's not saying a lot is it? ? :)

If you want "WTF people" for makeup and species... Star Trek Into Darkness... I've always had issues with the Abrams shows. The bridge is an Apple store....

i only know of m'ress because of years of checking out.."gentleman's culture" as i call it. still, there are worse methods of learning about something/someone. plus, she has some very nice legs. nice and meaty and with a bit of natural feminine muscle. plus i agree, there should be more animated series of star trek
