Note: This is set in the mainline continuity, I did an ideal canon for it where it's faithful to the games while I added in Post-SGW Archie Sonic Comics, IDW Sonic Comics, and Sonic Prime.

Chelsea first met Amy Rose ever since 4 years ago *Classic Era*, back then Chelsea was 11 and Amy was 8.
On her journey to find Skylands and become a Portal Master, Chelsea *Who was riding on a dolphin *Whom she helped* in the ocean after leaving Christmas Island* somehow found West Side Island and arrives in Emerald Hill Zone, and is then at the Wood Zone exploring, then came across a hedgehog girl three years younger than her doing tarot card reading, Amy Rose, the female cat asked her about Skylands, which Amy has no clue what it is, Chelsea also asked her for directions as she was lost, wondering if there was a nearby village.
Amy delightfully knows where it is while she's also happy to make a new friend herself, Chelsea is also pleased to meet her as well as the female hedgehog takes to to Knothole Village, meeting the Freedom Fighters *Amy back then was the latest member* Tails, Sally, Nicole, Bunnie, Antoine, and Roter for the first time while also reuniting with her childhood friend Sonic the Hedgehog, much to everyone's *Especially Amy* surprise.
Yet Chelsea's been friends with Amy for 4 years as well as the others, during the present *Modern Era*, at some point before the Chaos incident *Events of Sonic Adventure*, Chelsea introduced her Chao Candy to her friends, at another point before the Neo Metal Sonic incident *Events of Sonic Heroes* Chelsea and Candy are introduced to Cream and Cheese by Amy.
