Is a tree as a rocking horse an ambition fulfilled?
And is the sawdust jealous?
--I Pity Inanimate Objects; written and performed by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme
Personally, I think a tree would rather be made into a guitar, but I’ve never actually asked any. This tree has been around for a long time and seems happy enough to pose with my Ovation Pacemaker.
If you look through my gallery, it is apparent that I like shooting closeups of musical instruments. But for my second book of guitar photos, I decided to get them out “in the wild” for for some full-body photos.

Oh! Polyurethane! Yes that might be it! Few things leave a shine like it does. :)
There's not much to miss about linseed oil except that it will enhance the wood grain on a woodworking project if the surface is sanded correctly before applying the oil. It's good for something showy like a decorative piece of furniture. The hardest part is keeping bubbles out of the oil when stirring. Any bubbles left transfer onto the wood and pop which leaves a visible void on the finish.
